ABOUT MECANBE
Mecanbe is the free and open platform for change, designed to help individuals, teams and organizations measure, observe and inspire real change in any area of life.
Measure
Define. Set your Goals, identify the Tasks required to achieve them and then, as difficult as it can be, get offline and start performing.
Review. Commit yourself to a consistent, periodic Performance Evaluation. The more frequently you review your Tasks, the greater your drive will be to cross the Goal finish line.
Quality. Whereas a checklist is limited to tracking whether or not you accomplished a Goal, Mecanbe goes a lot further, allowing you to also measure the how and why of your progress, your Tasks.
Quantity. For most goals, there is also a quantitative, “bottom line” component. That’s why Mecanbe allows you to simultaneously track your progress for any complementary quantitative measurement. For example, while measuring the quality of your performance of daily study habits, you can also track your GMAT practice scores.
Observe
Progress. Mecanbe Progress Charts let you visualize your ongoing progress for any Goal. You can also zero-in on any of the Tasks that drive your Goal achievement, allowing you to focus on exactly what areas you need improvement to enhance overall progress.
For example, a Goal for entitled “Run 5 miles in 10 minutes”, you track not just see how far you manage to run every day, but also what contributing factors, or Tasks, you still need to work on to improve your pace.
Total Perspective. Progress Charts can also show development in a complementary quantitative measurement that you are tracking. For example, if your Goal is “Lose 50 Pounds”, you can see how the quality of your Task performance, such as a daily 2 mile run, or a low-carb supper, correlate to your ongoing weight loss. If somewhere along the line your weight-loss rate slows, you can easily pinpoint the exact reason and exert extra effort for that Task to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Inspire
Focus. Just contemplating goal accomplishment causes most people to give up. The problem is they are fixated with the bottom line and overwhelmed by the demanding ordeal of achieving some ultimate result. Mecanbe changes all that by refocusing you on the journey, rather than the destination.
Accountability. Mecanbe creates a sense of personal accountability through a commitment to periodic performance evaluations for any goal you create or subscribe to. You can even appoint friends, mentors, or companions as a Support Partners, for sharing in successes, monitoring your progress, and providing you with ongoing advice. The benefit of involving others in your goals is instant access to objectivity and experience, and it also raises the bar of responsibility.
Support. You have a much better chance of successfully implementing change with an excellent support system. Mecanbe not only provides a social community framework and the option for team-based goal achievement, but enables personalized support and encouragement through a dedicated Support Partner.
Communicate. With Mecanbe, you can blog about your accomplishments and aspirations, and enlist the support of others. Communicating your resolutions and intentions further increases your accountability.
Invite others to join in a team-based goal and share a team blog to maximize communication and support between all participants. In addition, knowing that you are accountable to “the team” and that your personal performance will influence the team average progress, will further inspire and keep you on track.
"Mecanbe is a service for self-coaching and self-improvement. As you can see from the screenshots below the service is very nicely designed and has many applications and functionalities."
"The interesting side of the application is the team-based goal management where you can see the progress of the team and compare it with yours on a specific goal. Interesting also is the leverage of the Flickr API to enable you to attach a picture to your profile and to any goal."
"The design and the marketing approach look yet very much consumer oriented and this tool could be great if applied to organizations and corporate environments especially for team building and evaluation of individuals within a team."
